Israel in Lebanon: "If You Haven't Left, You're Hezbollah"

"SIDON, Lebanon, Jul 30 (IPS) - The Israeli attack on Qana has taken the biggest toll of the war, but it is only one of countless lethal attacks on civilians in Lebanon.

Large numbers fled the south after Israelis dropped leaflets warning of attacks. Others have been unable to leave, often because they have not found the means. The Israelis have taken that to mean that they are therefore Hezbollah.

Israeli justice minister Haim Ramon announced on Israeli army radio Thursday that "all those in south Lebanon are terrorists who are related in some way to Hezbollah."

Justifying the collective punishment of people in southern Lebanon, Ramon added, "In order to prevent casualties among Israeli soldiers battling Hezbollah militants in southern Lebanon, villages should be flattened by the Israeli air force before ground troops move in."

This policy explains the large number of wounded in the hospitals of Sidon in the south..

Wounded people from southern Lebanon narrate countless instances of indiscriminate attacks by the Israeli military.

Thirty-six-year-old Khuder Gazali, an ambulance driver whose arm was blown off by an Israeli rocket, told IPS that his ambulance was hit while trying to rescue civilians whose home had just been bombed.

"Last Sunday people came to us and asked us to go help some people after their home was bombed by the Israelis," he said from his bed in Hamoudi Hospital in Sidon, the largest in southern Lebanon. "We found one of them, without his legs,
lying in a garden, so we tried to take him to the nearest hospital."

On way to the hospital an Israeli Apache helicopter hit his ambulance with a rocket, severely injuring him and the four people in the back of the vehicle, he said.

"So then another ambulance tried to reach us to rescue us, but it too was bombed by an Apache, killing everyone inside it," he said. "Then it was a third ambulance which finally managed to rescue us."

Khuder, who had shrapnel wounds all over his body, said "this is a crime, and I want people in the west to know the Israelis do not differentiate between innocent people and fighters. They are committing acts of evil.. They are attacking civilians, and they are criminals." "

A good way to educate parents is through their (more motivated?) children. How many families have Lego? The potential for getting round the MM smokescreen is immense.

Having had a read round zombietime.com, I do wonder about the impartiality of a website that has an obvious Zionist agenda and is happy to spread ludicrous Israeli denials and propoganda. Zombie expressly denies the Gaza beach bombing which killed an innocent civilian family of nine - a catalyst for the present conflict within the Occupied Territories and Lebanon - was through Israeli action.

At the time, Israeli spokesmen's convoluted denials, which changed depending on who was talking, what evidence was presented to them and what time of day it was, was a farce exposing the lies, and an investigation into the source of shards of the exploded missiles found them to be Israeli, not anything available to the Palestinians.
It was determined that indeed Israel HAD bombed a picnicing family in plain view from the war ship. So I take Zombie's links to the Jerusalem Post (a right-wing, Hollinger inc, Zionist paper) with a pinch of salt in much the same way I would with the Hezbollah Times, if such a newspaper exists.

Well done Lego on finding a new way to get these bonechilling truths out. Maybe you could sent it to Tony Blair and the BBC.

Incidentally, for opposingreality, there is no doubt about the attacks on ambulances.

Robert Fisk, of the Independent reported that "Israeli missiles had clearly pierced the very centre of the red cross on the roof of each ambulance", 7/26/06,
http://informationclearinghouse.info/article14207.htm

Here are other ambulance attacks:
[19 July] "Separately 26 Red Cross ambulances sent by the UAE government to assist the humanitarian crisis in Lebanon came under fire from Israeli warplanes, while being driven from the Syrian border to Beirut. Some of the ambulances had to return to Syria, while others made it through to Beirut"
http://story.malaysiasun.com/p.x/ct/9/cid/c08dd24cec417021/id/e4c85dbc5915ce8d/

[July 23] ""This is getting worse and worse by the day," says Qassem Chaalan, a Lebanese Red Cross volunteer. His unit had made 20 trips into the Tyre hinterland that morning alone to recover casualties. By midday, he was reporting that 10 cars, including an ambulance belonging to a local charity, had been attacked in the vicinity of Tyre."

[Jiuly 18] "Israeli warplanes on Tuesday struck an army base in Jamhour, east of Beirut…..The base was struck three times by Israeli warplanes, which also hit two ambulances transporting soldiers wounded in the initial attacks."

Recent and total repudiation of the Israreli lies that this event was a Hezbolla hoax can be found at Human Rights Watch, which has thoroughly investigated the targeted bombing of this ambulance

Although I think that this last war in Lebanon and Israel was very miserable for both sides, I felt an obligation to tell you that you must be aware to the differences between the war in Lebanon and the war in Iraq. On these days we celebrate Sukkot in Israel, so the is like in anz other year an international film festival in Haifa and alternative theatre festival in Akko. Both Akko and Haifa, two cities where you can find Jews and Arabs live together, a little bit more than one year agp were under bombing attack of hunderts of missiles by Hezbollah. Hezbollah is a primitive organization with its own militia, a dangerous fact not just for Israel, but to Lebanon as well. An independent country can not have a strange and powerful militia inside it, and not a strange control from other countries. As well, a sovereign county can not stand such an attack without protecting its residents. Not like the American attack on Iraq, nobody in Israel has had hidden interests in attacking or controlling Lebanon. However, there are no good wars. There is no catastrophe which is such preventable like war. War is deadly and shity, innocent people, civilians as soldiers, always die. As an Israeli, I deeply regret about this fatal mistake of bombing this ambulance. Therefore, I hope that a time of peace will rise soon the our area, and the borders between Lebanon, Israel and Syria will be open, and creators and visitors will come from Lebanon and Syria to watch films in Haifa and plays in Akko.

p.s.
I like the idea of the Lego illustration.
